We got a fairly decent start this morning and headed north across the border into Michigan. We turned east on Highway 12 and headed across the bottom portion of the state. There were a few four lane sections, but Highway 12 is mostly a very nice two-lane country road --
The Michigan countryside seems to be more wide open then what we have been seeing in Indiana. There are still lots of fields of corn and soybeans and we did see a few combines --
We drove through several small towns, all of them with Halloween decorations and pumpkins. I got a kick out of this "pumpkin pyramid" on a street corner --
The day started out with a light overcast, then morphed into a seriously cloudy day. After the high eighties of the last few days, it was chilly enough this evening for a sweat-shirt. We thought at first we would go to the KOA in Peterson, but then I found a campground in Tecumseh that had a 50% Camp Club discount.
After several miles of narrowing country roads, we found Indian Creek Campground and Conference Center. I had tried to call earlier, but had gotten an answering machine. When we drove in, there was a "closed" sign on the office door. That made us a bit nervous as many of the RV parks we have been at are getting ready to close for the season. But, even as I got out of Auntie Violet to go read the sign on the door, a lady drove up in a white pick-up and opened the office door! She said that she had been over at her fifth-wheel and hadn't seen us coming up the lane.
