We crossed the Ohio River --
And entered the state of Kentucky!
This is totally new country to both of us. Neither of us have ever been here, even in and out of an airport! We continued to follow I-71 south to Louisville, stopping at the Kentucky Welcome Center on the way. We gathered up quite a handful of brochures -- we had been thinking about spending a week in Kentucky, but it may end up being longer -- there's a lot to see! Our next stop was just a couple of miles further at the Pilot station in Walton. We added 39.23 gallons of diesel at $3.769 per gallon (with our 3 cent per gallon RV discount). From Louisville, we took I-65 to the town of Shepherdsville.
Our gray overcast day started to drip a bit, just enough to spatter the windshield -- and make my pictures blurry! The rock along the roadside was interesting -- we'll have to find out what kind of rock it is. (I know the cliffs below the RV park are limestone. It says so in the flyer.)
There seems to be a bit more color yet in the leaves now that we are further south.
There are fairly thick woods along the route. I'm remembering the stories from school about Daniel Boone cutting a road through the woods to open up Kentucky to settlement. I think they were called "corduroy" roads because of the logs they laid down in the mud...
We got to the Louisville South KOA in Shepherdsville just about five o'clock. We've actually got a site that is in a clear enough area to get TV on our satellite. We'll spend a couple of nights here and check out some of the sights in Louisville.
