Acadia National Park Part II -- Schoodic Peninsula

After we motored around the Loop Trail of Acadia National Park on Desert Island, we drove over to check out another portion of the park on Schoodic Peninsula. Schoodic Peninsula is to the east of Desert Island. The Park road pretty much follows the coast around the Peninsula.

The tide was beginning to come in as we drove --

We saw a portion of the granite where the outside coating had chipped away. The underlying granite was very grey.

These Rugosa Roses are the most common flowers we have seen in Maine. They are all over along the coast and along the roadsides.

Schoodic Point was the only place we saw these pretty little miniature irises --

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, USA!
