We've Done It!

We headed northwest on Interstate 94 this morning after a very rainy night. The sky remained overcast and grey until we left Minnesota --

At last we saw the sign welcoming us to North Dakota! Since we had taken the more southerly route east last Fall,we needed to spend time here in order to say we had been in all of the Lower 48.

We passed lots of large bales of hay made from the grass along the Interstate and fields of grain stubble --

As well as some fields of grain that had not yet been harvested (don't you love the name of this little town?) --

We weren't sure what we were seeing when we first saw these fields --

But soon realized we were seeing fields of sunflowers! Not sure whether they were being raised for oil or for the sunflower seed market --

We pulled into the Bismarck, North Dakota KOA about three PM. We took Toad into town and ate dinner at a Chinese Buffet that also had a Mongolian BBQ. We picked up a few groceries as we were out of orange juice, blueberries and milk for breakfast.

When we got back to Auntie Violet this evening I was able to put the last state on our map of the United States! It's a great feeling to know that we have accomplished this goal.

Hmm, now we'll have to figure out what our next goal should be?

  1. What an exciting accomplishment! We have some RVing friends whose goal is to visit every state Capitol and to play golf in every state. They left WA in April, I think, and are now on the east coast. You surely have some great memories, don't you?

  2. So, when are you coming to Canada's east coast? It will be a totally different experience, especially if you go to Newfoundland.
