Another early morning start and a busy morning program. We finished up with all of the reports and business, then were instructed to pick up our lunches and go out and get on the buses.
Part of the crew getting ready to board the bus --
We were on our way to take a look at and tour Historic Spanish Point --
This site is a prehistoric Native American site, though the Indians disappeared from the area thousands of years ago. The Webbs, homesteaders who came to this area to stake their claims, recognized this was a burial mound and invited scientists from the Smithsonian to investigate it.
The trees in this area are just loaded with Spanish Moss, an epiphytic air plant --
After touring the Spanish Point complex, the buses took us to the harbor for a boat tour. It was a chilly, windy, overcast day today with lots of chop on the water. It was not nearly as much fun as our sail at Fort Myers last week. After the buses returned us to the church where the meeting was held, we went out with Linda and Darryll for a late dinner.
