We've had very nice temperate weather for the last couple of weeks. It got warm during the day -- up to the high eighties -- then cooled off nicely for sleeping at night. Not any more! Yesterday it got HOT! And today if got HOTTER! Our thermometer read 97 degrees in the shade.
You know it's hot when I -- the one who heartily dislikes air conditioning -- turn on the AC as soon as I get up! It had been a bit windy when we left for Salem yesterday, so we had brought the awning in. Right after I turned on the AC, I put out the awning to shade that side of the motor home and made sure that all the windows were shut.
The area of Sturbridge Campground for big rigs has no trees, so we have no natural shade. It makes for great satellite TV reception, but it also gets hot. Even though we had left the windows open a bit when we left, Auntie Violet was quite warm when we got home. We opened the windows wide and turned on the overhead fans to cool her down. Even with the fans on, it was uncomfortable sleeping. It wasn't cool enough to turn the fans off until after a little after five this morning.
We will be moving to Vermont tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be a little cool in the morning when we are packing up...
