Almost Sale Day

If you ate a Mennonite, one of the highlights of your service is your area's MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) Relief Sale. Held all over this country and in Canada, the sales raise thousands of dollars every year for world relief. The sales are very popular as buyers know their money and donations go exactly where they say they are going -- with minimal overhead.

The sale in Washington State always is held the first Saturday in August -- TOMORROW! It has been held at our home church, Menno Mennonite Church for over 35 years. Booth sales will start at 10 AM tomorrow and the auction starts at Noon. There are some absolutely gorgeous quilts this year.

I spent the morning at our neighbor Diane's catering kitchen, helping to prep stuff for tomorrow's meals. I chopped green onions and celery, cilantro and jalapeƱos. The best part was getting to sample Di's Mahi-Mahi tacos at lunch.

This afternoon, Cleon and I tagged the auction items with their numbers and finalized the list while the ladies organized the 80 plus quilts,

Tonight's dinner featured pulled pork that Curt had barbecued. Along with coleslaw and baked beans, it was really good. As the sun went down, it got really cold. Time to get home for a good night's sleep before tomorrow's big day!
