Mennonite Country Auction

Another successful Relief Sale is in the book. Considering how miserable the weather's been this past week, we had a beautiful day today! It was downright cold this morning when we got over to the church for breakfast, but the sun was out and the wind was quiet, so I started shedding layers as the day went by.

Booth sales were brisk with over $60,000 in sales throughout the day. It's amazing that over a thousand dollars of that came from the Etcetera shop which sells yard sale type "stuff" for donations only -- nothing is priced, you pay whatever you think something is worth. The other one I get a kick out of is the Quilters Corner which brought in over $ 1600 for UFOs (unfinished objects), patterns and fabric.

The auction itself brought in another $50,000. We had the most quilts ever this year and there were some simply gorgeous ones. Our friends Bill and Leslie drove over from their RV park in Bothell and Leslie even bought another quilt (a small one to snuggle with)! A couple brought a "nut picker" for the auction that I immediately knew I had to get for Brother Pat. It's designed to pick up hazelnuts up off the ground. I'd helped sis-in-law Cindy pick them up one time and knew how much work it was. This will save lots of bending over!

We went out to dinner with Bill & Leslie at Inca in Moses Lake, then delivered the nut picker to my brother. I do believe it was a hit...
