We've stayed here at Old American Kampground in Newport several times. I think we only missed coming here last year as we spent the last part of the summer on the coast. It's part of the KM group which we are part of due to our home park, Neskowin Creek. Our stays used to be free at the KM facilities, but last year they started adding a dollar per night surcharge for electricity. It still makes it a good buy -- unless you count what our membership at Neskowin Creek originally cost...
The RV park is situated along the Pend Oreille River on the Washington State side. We are looking across the river at Idaho. The part of the park we are in is in the middle of the park and sits on a bit of a bluff. There are RV sites further down along the river as well.
The river seems to be significantly lower then when we were here before -- at least there seems to be more beach showing over on the Idaho side.
There are five sites along the little ridge where Auntie Violet is parked, but only one of them is occupied, so we are actually pretty private.
After all of the activity and moving yesterday, we didn't get going very early this morning and I have not done too much today other than laundry. Forry was out of milk for his breakfast cereal, so he did make a quick trip over to the Safeway store which is only a couple of blocks away. And since there are again too many trees to get satellite TV reception, he broke down and dug out out the cable to hook up with the Park's cable system. After all, the new season is starting and we certainly don't want to miss any episodes of The View or Dancing With the Stars...!
