A Quick Trip to Moses Lake

It got HOT today! It was 102 degrees when we left about two o'clock to run in to Moses Lake to pick up groceries -- we've been out of orange juice for at leat two days.

It the kind of weather that makes you want to just stay in the air conditioned motorhome and read. I recently finished South of Broad by Pat Conroy which was very good and today I finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Both books take place in the South, one in Charleston and one in Mississippi. Conroy's book includes a pretty dramatic telling of the landing of Hurricane Hugo in Charleston -- made one think of all the stories of Katrina. Stockett's book takes place in the '60s and tells the stories of "colored help" in white homes.

It's nice to read two books in a row that are so good, though very different!
