And it's been a good one! We were up early and made our first visit to Albuquerque Mennonite Church. Services were scheduled to start at 9:30. We got there about quarter after, not being real sure where the church was. There were just four or five cars in the parking lot. The people inside were very friendly -- said they knew we were visitors as we were there on time... Services started right at 9:30, but there were only about a dozen people there. But they kept wandering in -- by the time the service was over a little before eleven, there were over a hundred people there!
They had a really good Sunday School class after some coffee. The lecture was on "Women of the Reformation," using the "Martyr's Mirror" as one of the resources. It was interesting to note that how many of the women mentioned were wives of reformers -- but how little information there actually was about most of them.
We went over to Juni and Tom's after church, just in time for a feast. Smoked pork butt and spare ribs; barbecued chicken; beans; potato salad; corn; crab past salad; cole slaw; rolls; carrot and red velvet cakes -- WOW!
I had a chance to talk with all three of the kids at various times today, which made the day really special!
