There are the rugged ridges that we went over and the walls we came VERY close to --
The guide told us that the rocks are basically granite with caps of limestone --
Some of the tallest trees in New Mexico make their home here, dwarfed by the mountains --
"Sandia" means watermelon in Spanish -- they turn that reddish color in the sunset. That's actually patches of snow in the picture below.
We were still talking about our tram ride up the mountain when we stopped to visit a bit with Tom and Juni this afternoon before we made a Costco run. It's a good thing we went yesterday as the wind was VERY blustery and gusty today.
