A Visit -- and a Feast!

After a rather mundane day washing and sorting clothes to pack tomorrow in preparation for our trip to Pennsylvania, we went to Moses Lake this evening to visit my brother Patrick and his wife Cindy. To make the visit even more special, three of his four children were there. Niece Becky, her husband David and their two boys, Carter and Case were there. Niece Ashley came with her friend Kyle and Nephew Nick showed up as well after putting in thirteen hours at work today.

Pat and Cindy had prepared a feast! They had steak and chicken breasts, two kinds of marinated shrimp, peppers, mushrooms and new potatoes all on skewers on the barbecue. So good! Becky had made angel food cake and we had that and ice cream for dessert along with luscious fresh strawberries from Pat's garden.

We took time between dinner and dessert to check out the garden. The peas are ripe! There is nothing any of us like more then eating fresh peas right off the vine. My little grand-nephews love their "Poppy's" garden and playing in the dirt!

We also had a taste of the first black raspberries! Little Case really likes them -- he even takes time out from his dirt-digging to take some in both hands (peas only rated one hand...)!

We came home after watching the Mariners shut-out the Padres, along with a bag of fresh lettuce -- and more peas!
