A Down Day...

Today was a nice quiet down day. Daylight Savings Time started today, so we set the clocks forward an hour when we went to bed last night. It did seem like it was an awfully short night, even though we slept in this morning.

It was overcast and chilly this morning and it got cloudier as the morning went by, then finally started to rain. It rained off and on most of the afternoon. Every time we thought it was going to clear off so we could go for a bike ride, it started up again.

As I was sitting on the couch reading, Forry suddenly hollered at me to look out the window. A lone Sandhill Crane had landed on the street outside of Auntie Violet!

We lost sight of it for a while, then it came back down the street again. A man walked right by it as we watched, and it didn't even flinch. It must be quite used to people.

We've seen quite a few of the Sandhills since we've been in Florida. Usually there are a pair of them, occasionally three. Perhaps the third one is a last year's chick?
