We have a High Definition Receiver in the right hand front cupboard of Auntie Violet for our DirectTV reception from our Winegard Satellite dish.
I had called DirectTV last week and talked with their Customer Service about getting a recorder for our receiver like they've been advertising so heavily on TV. (Our friends Tom and Juni, have one in their coach and they record many shows so that they could watch them at a more convenient time.) The lady I talked to said that since we had been DirectTV customers for so many years, we were eligible for an upgrade (which would cost us $10 per month more...) to a recording receiver. We were on the phone with her for almost an hour as we talked with her and then with a verification person (who recorded our order), then with another lady to make the installation appointment. We talked with them about how we were fulltime RVers with "the waiver" (which allows us to receive TV feeds from both the east and west coasts), and that our RV was parked in an RV resort.
The installation was scheduled for today between Noon and 4 PM. The tech arrived in his panel truck at 1:26 and the first thing he said when we walked in was that "they weren't supposed to work in RVs." !!!
He was surprised to see the satellite receiver on our roof -- said he'd never seen one that folded down like that...
He had Forry take the doors off the front cabinet so that he could see how many wires were connected to the receiver, then said there was no way he could work on it. After much discussion, we finally decided to cancel the attempted installation.
Maybe when we get back up to Oregon, we'll have the fellows at Kustom Coachworks take a look at the setup and see what we can do...
On the other hand, we did have an absolutely gorgeous sunset tonight. I don't like to see clouds instead of sunny skies, but they do make for pretty!
