A Trip to Camping World

Forry has been watching the ads for ice makers for some time now. He tried to get one earlier this year when Camping World had a sale, but they were sold out when he got there. We needed to get some more blue tabs for the holding tanks as well as detergent for the Splendide washer/dryer, so we headed to the Mesa Camping World this afternoon.

This bush with the lavender flowers was blooming outside of the Camping World entrance. We are seeing more and more plants in bloom. I even saw a couple of yucca blooms amongst the freeway landscaping on Highway 60.

I got the household things I needed and Forry found a Dometic Stainless Steel Portable Automatic Ice Maker. I'm not sure where we are going to put it, but he doesn't think that will be a problem. Perhaps, out on the patio? The one thing I don't think he had realized is that ice makers just make ice, they don't keep it stored frozen. I guess I'll have to keep a space in the freezer for him...

The other item we have been looking for is a new toilet for Auntie Violet. They had the demo units of the one we wanted on display, but it ended up that they actually did not have any in stock. They called their neighbor store over on Main Street and they had three! We drove on over there and picked one of them up. Not sure when it might come out of the box. It may be a while.

Flora of Iowa

I love going into communities that have gorgeous pots of flowers on their light poles. This is the Main Street of Winterset, Iowa --

This flower box was alongside the Visitor Center on the side street. These miniature petunias are very petite - less than a half inch wide --

Queen Anne's Lace is very prolific along the roadsides --

As are the pink flowers of clover --

The feathery Goldenrod is just beginning to show color --

How tall do you think this "cornstalk" in the soybean field is? We're guessing it was close to twenty feet tall with a light on top of that yet...

I'll bet it really looks interesting during the years that the field is planted to corn...
