We continued our journey north today going inland and taking some back roads to near the little town of Moncure, North Carolina. We are parked at Dickens RV Park, sort of in the middle of nowhere. But, it's a Passport America campsite (50% discount) that seems to be sort of central to the cemeteries we are looking for while we are here.
Our GPS unit certainly took us on a round-about way to get here (we're going to have to recheck the parameters we have her set for...), but we saw some beautiful countryside.
Lots of rural Baptist churches and some very nice-looking farmsteads.

Dickens RV Park is in a large open meadow -- we have great satellite TV reception! The campground supposedly has 108 sites, but the owner says they actually presently have 160 units on the grounds. Many of them are doubled up on a single site -- they are really packed in. When we first called for reservations, the owner said he would have to see if someone would leave so that he would have a spot for us. When we called yesterday, he said that he had an opening if we could use a 30 amp site. Since it's been in the 70s, we don't use the AC so that worked out just fine.
Evidently, there is a nuclear plant near here that undergoes a major check-up and overhaul every so many months. They bring in a huge crew of workers that are just in the area for a short time. Tomorrow I will get some pictures so you can see what it's like. Being a westerner, I really like the wide open spaces -- and the light! One thing about all of the large trees in the parks we've been lately is how dark it is. We've had lights on to work even in the daytime.
I had picked up some lovely tomatoes at the fruit stand we stopped at in Georgia. Tonight I made BLTs for supper topped off with a juicy fresh local cantaloupe.
