The Sale is Coming!

The sun was setting over at Menno church tonight when I went over to help getting stuff ready for Saturday's Mennonite Country Auction --

Our Master Food Coordinator Diane confers with her Right Hand Didi about what order to start tomorrow's prep --

We'd already put together seven roasters of green bean soup and stuck them in the walk-in cooler --

Along with all the other grocery items awaiting cooking the next two days --

Today's batch of apple butter made in a copper kettle was cooling on the side table. We could hear the soft "ping" of the jar lids as they cooled and sealed --

Boxes of serving wear, cups, plates, tableware, gloves all labeled for the various food booths are waiting in the Fellowship Hall.

It's always surprising to me to look around at the quiet church and grounds on Thursday and realize how busy it will be on Friday with people getting things ready to go. And then to think that there will be close to a thousand people there on Saturday! It's amazing how quickly everyone steps in and does their part and all of a sudden it's happening.
