We made the long-put-off trip to Costco today. I have just not wanted to deal with the distances and the crowds. There are several Costco stores in Phoenix and every one that we have been to has been extremely crowded. Today was no exception. We went early this afternoon, so were not even there late enough for Forry to have his Costco Dog supper...
We saw several thunderheads building out over Four Peaks and the mountains as we were driving home. By about seven o'clock, the clouds had gotten really black over that way and we began to see sheets of lightning and hear thunder. As time went on, the flashes got closer and closer until they were right overhead. Finally, as the lightning tapered off, it began to rain. At first, a few drops and now a steady rain.
I was actually a bit surprised we did not lose power as strong as the storm seemed to be. None of the weather apps we have predicted the storm -- or the rain!
