It took us until just about five minutes before check-out time of eleven o'clock this morning, but we made it! We don't move very fast any more and it took us a lot longer to get hooked up and ready to go. And, naturally, Forry had to hook up the battery charger as the starter battery didn't want to! Always something. Since it had been such a long time since we had moved, we tried to be extra careful about being methodical. Fortunately, there was a light overcast this morning, so it wasn't so terribly hot.
We headed out to Shea Boulevard, then took the 101 Loop out of Phoenix to Interstate 17. We drove that north until we met up with Interstate 40 almost in Flagstaff.
I'm not sure what this field of yellow is, but we went by miles of it. Once again, fulfilling my theory that Mother Nature loves yellow.
We pulled into the KOA outside of Flagstaff a little after three. We have a nice pull-through spot (even though it sloops downhill in the front...) that is actually just in back of the office, even though you wind around most of the campground to get there.
We were exhausted! We can tell we are getting old. We didn't drive that far or that long, but with the last few days of getting ready and what all we did this morning, we were really tired. It is actually supposed to get down to 27 degrees tonight! Quite a change from the 76-80 degree nights we've been having. We are at 7000 feet. It makes a big difference.
I made hamburger nachos for dinner, woke Forry up to eat. He's gone right back to sleep in his recliner. Guess I'd better wake him up to go disconnect the water hose for the night.
