Ouch!

I spent a couple of hours on the phone and internet this morning looking for 225 18R 60 tires for Toad II. Just like our former Jeep, the Suzucki has a larger than the average tire. There are lots of tire shops in Kingman, but not many that had the right size of tire. While every place offered to order them in, they all said it would take three days to a week...

I finally contacted Superior Tire (which had good reviews on the internet) and they not only had the right size tires, but they had four different brands. We were hoping that we would be able to use the rim from the blown-out tire, but it was too badly battered. Evidently there are lots of 17 inch rims around, but the 18 inch ones aren't as common. The shop owner did some calling around and finally located one that he could have delivered tomorrow.

We ended up buying four new Toyo tires, along with the new rim, which will be here tomorrow. OUCH! I called the Blake Ranch RV Park and got our stay extended another day. Hopefully, the rim will arrive tomorrow and we can once more get on our way north.

While we were waiting for the tires to be put on Toad II, we got a surprise visit from Forry's second cousin James, who came over from Sedona fora short visit. He has a Biocybernaut Institute there, one of several training stations he runs in various countries. Jim was looking for some information about the birthplace of some of his family members. I think he was disappointed to find that his grandfather had been born in the US, rather than in Germany.

We got home too late to watch the Mariners play their Opening Day game in Seattle. Fortunately, ROOT Sports rebroadcast it tonight, so we got to watch the win (even though we already knew the outcome...).
