Seafood Buffet!

We both woke up this morning, looked at each other, and very quickly made a mutual decision that we were NOT going to travel today. We had a wonderful visit with Sister Sherry yesterday, but that extra four hours of driving wore us out.

We didn't do a whole lot today; we watched some TV; did some Sudoku; read a book; played Words With Friends; took a nap. We watched the Mariners beat the Yankees and take the series in New York.

We did get ambitious enough to call for the Wild Horse van and ride over to the Casino for their Seafood Buffet. It was actually very good -- they had Dungeness, Snow and King Crab as well as clams, mussels and shrimp.

An Absolutely Lazy Boring Day...

I was sitting here trying to remember what we had done today. It was an absolutely blah day with nothing to make it memorable. We have been wanting to make a trip over to Desert Gardens to take a look at the spring desert flowers, but Forry thought tomorrow might be a better day, so we didn't do it this afternoon.

I did wash a couple of loads of laundry. One was the bathroom rugs and the other was a load of shirts. When I went to hang a couple of shirts to dry, I got rather frustrated. I can usually hang two hangers on the cabinets in the front of the RV, one on each side. Forry had not replaced the doors on the right hand side that he had removed for the DirectTV guy's abortive attempt to replace our receiver with one that could also record. I must have made my annoyance palpable as by this afternoon, the doors are now back in place...

My run of luck with Words With Friends on my iPad is definitely over. I think I have been beaten by everyone I am playing with the last few days! I need to ramp up my collection of two letter words and of words of more than four letters -- I'd do a lot better. Playing with four or five different people of all ages is quite interesting. The selection of words is sometimes surprising and unexpected.

We did have a nice telephone visit with our eldest daughter this noon. We are in the process of re-writing the ranch lease and had emailed each of the girls a copy in order to keep them in the loop. After all, the next time the lease is up for negotiation, they will most likely be the ones doing it.

Another pair of Alpine Coach owners stopped by for a visit this evening. Sounds like there's an informal Alpine get-together happening at the Happy Hour each evening. We may have to check it out.

Cold and Wet

It rained off and on all night and today the clouds hung low and grey and heavy, though we only got a few drops of rain. It was one of those days that just saps all your energy.

I fixed poached eggs and toast for breakfast (served with orange juice and coffee), then made a batch of hard-boiled eggs in Sister Sherry's egg poacher. I had been hungry for deviled eggs and though I made a batch for the Block Party a couple of weeks ago, I only got to eat one -- and by the time we came through the line, it was the last one left!

So today I made another batch and that's what we had for supper. That's about as ambitious as I got today. I read the newspapers, played some Words with Friends, and read a couple of mysteries on my iPad. We thought about going for a bike/trike ride this afternoon, but it seemed like too much effort to get bundled up and go outside.

The weather forecasts seem to all agree that it will warm up and be nice again tomorrow. I have been feeling a bit sorry for the couple who were sitting by us at the ballgame yesterday. They had made reservations a couple of months ago to come to Phoenix for a sunny weekend break. She said she had really been looking forward to some chaise lounge time by the motel pool...

A Saturday at the RV Park

We spent another quiet day at the RV Park today. I was up early this morning, but didn't do a lot more than drink a cup of coffee and read the newspapers. We have the Arizona Republic delivered to our site every morning. In addition, I read the email editions of the Washington Post and the New York Times as well as the Seattle Times. It is quite interesting to read the editorial comments from each of the different newspapers. The Post tends to be more Republican oriented while the Times usually leans more Democratic. The Seattle and Arizona papers tend to be more state oriented along with local news.

Once I've waded through the news, I have to check my email and then of course, Facebook. With any luck one of the people I've been playing Words With Friends with will have made a move that I'll want to counter.

By then, Forry is usually up and it's time to fix some breakfast. We vary that between blueberries and cereal or poached eggs and toast or bagels. And, of course, there's always orange juice and more coffee. Forry then starts solving the Sudoku puzzles I've saved him from the paper.

In the late afternoon, we took a bicycle/tricycle ride around the park and ended up over at Juni and Tom's RV. They were sitting outside with the dogs, so we spent time with them getting our puppy fix. Juni had made chicken and dumplings for dinner last night and sent the remainder home with us tonight for our dinner. Delicious!
