This looks a whole lot different then the paved streets and park models at Sun Life RV Resort in Mesa. And it's a whole lot cooler here too!
We drove Interstate 17 as we left Phoenix and went north through the hills loaded with cacti --
We climbed up into the high country and flat meadows --
Then into the juniper forests --
And finally to the 6 and 7 thousand foot level with the pine trees --
We arrived at Meteor Crater RV Park a little before three-thirty this afternoon and drove into a nice pull through site. It was a bit of a shock to actually feel cool -- it was only 69 degrees! The office staff said they were no longer freezing at night, only getting down into the forties.

It was certainly nice to be on the road again. We stopped just after we had turned onto I 40 at a Little America fuel station. Fueling up next to us was a truck load of sheep. The driver said he had 436 just weaned lambs on board, taking them to a feed lot in Colorado. Diesel cost us $4.34 a gallon today.
EOWZER! I was complaining about the $4.07 we saw. We have to fill up on our next trip and I am dreading it. Sorry to hear it's so high out there. GACK!
ReplyDeleteIf you guys haven't passed it already you should stop and see the Fire and Ice Park. They have an Ice cave and with a light hike you can look down into the mouth of an inactive volcano. The trees there are the strangest things I have ever seen!
