Daughter Dawn had to work today, so it was the girls and I on the painting crew. Granddaughter Kyra finished up the aqua wall in her bedroom today --
Granddaughter Havela was taping for her -- right next to the striped wall Kyra painted last week!
We continued to work on that wall of built-ins in the family room. We started doing the accent colors (teal blue and cherry red) on the back of the book shelves today. It actually looks very nice with the light tan trim we painted yesterday. It definitely is a piddly job -- it takes us longer to tape off each section than it does to paint it. We've been able to put on two coats of the accent colors, but is definitely going to take at least one more. We also taped and painted the last wall in Grandson Micah's room. It'll be a nice surprise for him when he gets back from camp.
Todd and the girls loaded up their van with a lot of the boxes we've packed the last several weeks, then loaded his table saw into his little trailer. It's on wheels - as is all of his shop equipment - so he built a ramp to load the heavy thing. The van was so full, it only had room for Todd and Forry, so the girls and I took Toad II and headed over to the new house to get started.
But, when we got there, we realized we didn't have a key! We took the burgers we had picked up at Dairy Queen and sat in the shade of one of the apple trees in the back yard and had our lunch until the guys arrived. You can be sure that Todd had some more keys made this afternoon!
We were saddened to hear this past week of the passage of our dear family friend Polly Hennings. Polly and her late husband John were our neighbors when we moved to Grandpa Haight's farm in the Carrico Hills when we were kids. Sister Sherry and I baby-sat for Mary Lou and Ronnie John as each of them came along; I worked for Polly a couple of summers; later our daughters had Polly as a teacher in school. She was a wonderful woman, a real lady, and she will be very much missed by our whole family. RIP
