Painting, Painting, Painting

The Grandkids have pretty much gotten their rooms in the new house painted (Kyra has another wall to paint), but Daughter Dawn was struggling with what to do with the two sets of built-ins in the family room. I remembered the incredibly colorful outfit my friend Addy was wearing at the convention in Phoenix that was all pulled together by a pair of shoes that had a lavender, pink, orange and lime green color palate.

So we decided to go to JoAnns Fabric Store to see if we could come up with some color combos in the colors she liked. The fabric store was right next to an Import Market store. We browsed through there looking at their colors and pillows, then went to look at fabrics. We found a light weight light tan fabric with a teal blue patterned stitched on it that would make a great curtain swag or side curtains for the sliding doors. Then Dawn found a dark almost geranium color as an accent for pillows and/or ties.

From there we went to Home Depot and bought paint to match the fabric. Light tan for the trim and insides of the two sets of built-in cupboards and teal and cherry cobbler for the accent colors for the backs of the shelves. From there it was back to the house to start painting. Forry had gone with Todd to take Grandson Micah and his friend to Drift Creek Camp over by Lincoln City, so it was just us girls.

We spent the rest of the day painting. As Dawn said, it was piddly tedious work. There are multiple shelves on each side, drawers and lots of doors. The detachable shelves were taken out and they had to be painted on each side. We were just finishing up with all of the light tan when the fellows got home. The accents will have to wait for another day.

Todd and Granddaughter Havela went out for pizza that our very tired crew sat on folding chairs to eat in the new dining room. It has skylights which made it fun to watch the clouds going by as we ate.
