Borrego Springs -- Birds, Critters and Flowers too

A Gambels Quail perched along the roadside joined Yellow-rumped Warblers, Black-throated Gray Warblers (a 1st for us both!), Western Kingbirds, Brewer's Blackbirds, crows, ravens and a Great Blue Heron on the list of birds we saw today.

A sabre-toothed tiger joined mammoths, sloths, camels, horses and other earlier inhabitants of the Anza-Borrego desert area --

at the various acreages owned by Galleta Meadows --

Amidst many, many gorgeous flowers blooming on the desert floor. Like these blossoms on a cholla cactus that ranged in color from year to peach to pink!

Or this magnificent ocotillo that was only one of hundreds in bloom on the hillsides!
