Rainy Day and Yesterday's Hike

It started raining during the night and rained almost all day, finally tapering off about five pm. It was chilly too, I don't think it got above 55 degrees all day. Almost felt like we were back in the Pacific Northwest with that damp cold!

Here's some more pictures from our hike yesterday. I'm not sure whether these two lizards were being amorous or whether they were fighting --

One finally fled and the other ran up the side of a big flower pot. It's blue spots were spectacular in the sunlight. I tried to look up both lizards and skinks on the Internet, but really didn't find any critter that looked just like them. Both the Side-blotched lizard and the Western Fence lizard sort of looked similar, but? Any biologists out there who know what these lizards are named?

Peeking out of the grass was a single allium --
And then there were a whole bunch of them --
I heard some rustling in the bushes, thought maybe there was another hiker, albeit a very noisy one! Then this lonesome lady turkey made her way out into the open.

One of the RVers we talked with later said he had seen the hen every day during the week he has been here. She's always alone and he said he had never seen any others. It's pretty unusual not to see turkeys in flocks -- maybe she has gotten lost?
