We had this view of a cluster of pear cacti as we left the Ramona area -- I would have loved to stop to get a close-up picture of the many blossoms and buds, but we were on our way...
Highway 78 is a twisty, windy typical southern California mountain two lane highway --
Forry always tries to be very considerate of other drivers and finds a place to pull over and let traffic by us as soon as three to four vehicles pile up behind us. He did that several times and then as we were going down one of the rather steep hills, he acquired a truck that was driving practically on top of the Toad. After several miles, Forry finally found a spot wide enough to pull over. It was a little short for the length of our rig, so he had to stop pretty hard in order to pull over enough.
But I did take this out the window --

Well, let me tell you, Auntie Violet did NOT like having to make that sharp a stop! She flung open one of the kitchen cupboards and threw the stack of Corelle dinner and lunch plates and saucers out onto the floor. What a mess! We couldn't even tell for sure how many dishes were broken, there were so many shards on the floor!
Almost all of the time, we place a telescoping rod in front of the plates to keep this from happening... But, this was one of those days when we didn't do it! We finally figured out that we are missing two lunch plates and one saucer. Fortunately a good share of the bowls and plates were still safe in the dishwasher instead of being put away in the cupboard!
